Are you the one who deals with dry, itchy hands and feet during the winter? Sounds like a paraffin dip treatment is in your near future! Paraffin dip is a treatment for the symptoms of joint and muscle conditions, such as arthritis, that involves applying melted mineral wax derived from petroleum to the hands and feet. Paraffin dips can be especially helpful in relieving the pain and stiffness of arthritis involving the small joints of the hands and feet.

Description

The hands and feet are usually dipped more than once to allow a thicker wax coat to form, making the coasting stay warm for longer and less likely to break or tear prematurely. After the hands and feet have been dipped in the wax, they are wrapped in either plastic or aluminum foil, or a special type of plastic bag or glove then covered with towel or special mitten to retain warmth. The hands and feet left for a few minutes before the paraffin is cooled and dried.

Below is the standard step-by-step process to getting perfect paraffin dip treatment. Please don’t hesitate to ask us if you have any questions!

Step 1: Melt paraffin in the appliance and allow it to cool to 125 degress F.

Step 2: Remove all jewelry, and thoroughly wash and dry the treated area.

Step 3: Dip your hands and feet into the paraffin bath, heat transfers from the wax into the affected area as the wax solidifies.

Step 4: Put hands and feet back into the paraffin bath for up to 30 minutes, the heat will help to increase circulation as well as relieve pain and stiffness.

Step 5: Wait for paraffin to penetrate the body and increase blood supply to the skin, while also opening pores and trapping moisture from underlying layers of skin.

Step 6: Clean the body and let it dry, then finish the process.
